Refrigerator

Which area of the house has the most harmful bacteria? Contrary to common belief, it is not the toilet, as it gets cleaned and flushed regularly. The truly evil germs like Staphylococcus aureus lurk in the kitchen – an area where most people prefer not to use aggressive chemical cleaners too often or even at all. According to a study conducted by the Hygiene Council, the refrigerator for instance has more germs and mold than the toilet seat. The numbers: Scientists found that there are 1.4 million germs per square centimeter in the refrigerator, whereas the toilet only has 100. At 7 – 8°C and high humidity, the germs can develop rapidly and settle not only on the interior walls, but also on the shelves, which in turn means on the food.

The Thermostar puts an end to this unhealthy invasion: While defrosting the fridge – or during the periodic cleaning –, just run the steam valve across the surfaces and shelves from a safe distance. The hot steam temperatures in combination with high pressure remove germs thoroughly and make for perfect hygiene – and a truly healthy appetite.
